Alice's journal: The telegram

January 3, 1925; New York City, NY, USA

A relentless snowstorm that lasted two days occurred from January 2-3. New York City received 27.5 inches of snow. It was so miserable being trapped in the Colony Club on Park Avenue knowing the nightlife and parties I crave are so close yet inaccessible.

It was a glorious noise to hear the door bell ring. Who was brave enough to venture out in this whiteout? What kind of adventure awaits on the other side of that door?

The doorman, Timmy escorted a snowy telegram delivery boy in. Oh, how sad he looked all covered in white and shivering. The damp telegram he pulled out of his pocket was for me! Oh, what could it be? A party invitation?
